The Australian College of Animal Tactile Therapy is located in Monbulk, Victoria and was formed in 2001 to provide professional training in animal tactile therapy and natural health.

We offer both professional level courses and special interest courses for horse enthusiasts. All courses have been developed following investigation into the Australian equine industry and the educational needs of those that work and play within the industry.

The aim of ACATT is to provide the student with the latest study material and information in the field of tactile therapy and natural care. We aim to provide training of the highest possible standard in technical knowledge, innovation, ethics and safety.

Our commitment is to high quality education, the advancement of natural animal health knowledge, and the enhancement of quality of life for all species.

Our Aims and Outcomes

To provide students with a flexible learning package that provides professional education in equine tactile therapy and natural health care.
To provide students with theory and practical skills in natural health care and tactile therapies including Sports, Remedial, Shiatsu, T-Touch and Bowen.



Our Professional Graduates:

1. Understand the horse and its nature, and work to connect with the horse

2. Are very knowledgeable in equine anatomy and biomechanics

3. Have a thorough understanding of the importance of and how to provide a balanced diet.

4. Are proficient in their chosen area of Equine Therapy,providing thorough assessment and application of appropriate treatment.

5. Understand exercise physiology and the effects of exercise and training on the horse's body

6. Have a good understanding of equine health, along with the causes and signs of ill health

8. Are able to provide holistic equine health care advise.

9. Recognize the need for, and advise veterinary attention be sought where required.

10. Work with veterinarians as an integral part of the equine health management team

11. Have an understanding of business management, with practical and theoretical knowledge of team leadership.

12. Respect the rights and dignity of each individual horse and their carer, and at all times work to maintain a high level of professional competence.

This course is designed to provide equine carers with extensive education in equine health including the use of herbs, tissue salts and Bach therapy and complementary tactile therapies.

This course is designed to provide equine carers with extensive education in equine nutrition, including anatomy, health and clinical nutrition.

CERTIFICATE OF HORSE HANDLING


Offered to those people that work with horses,
such as strappers, equine handlers, trainers, riding instructors, farriers, stable hands and masseurs that have completed a basic massage course and wish to extend their health care knowledge.

Course Fees stated above include all course notes, tutorials, theoretical and practical instruction. Suggested text books, other reading materials and equipment required can be purchased by the student through the college at reasonable rates.

The above fees do not include accommodation costs for the practical intensive.
We arrange accommodation for students, the cost of which is currently $160.00 (AUS) per 5 days, all students attending the practical intensive are also required to pay a $100.00 administration fee.


Our innovative Equine Massage and Health Care Courses provide a high degree of flexibility in commencement times and student outcomes.

Our professionally accredited courses produce Equine Therapists who at all times combine professionalism and respect for the animal. Our graduates have extensive knowledge of equine anatomy, physiology and locomotion as you would expect from any professional equine therapist, the tactile therapy students also gain expertise in exercise physiology, specialized massage techniques, equine health, nutrition and equine rehabilitation.

All students are welcome to attend the practical intensive sessions multiple times if desired, and it is a requirement for Diploma students to gain supervisory and educational experience while supervising the Introductory and sports therapy practical intensives. External practical experience is a further component of our courses, this allows students to develop their professional and industry skills.

These courses were developed by The Australian College of Animal Tactile Therapy in response to industry demand for professional, knowledgeable and highly skilled Equine Massage and Physical Therapy Specialists.


Course Format and Assessment:

All professional courses are offered by external study with internal practical sessions. Internal Practical intensives are held six monthly.

The Diploma of Equine Tactile Therapy is designed to be complete over two years, with each certificate or module running over one semester. The Certificate of Equine Health is a twelve month certificate. Students can elect to do all subjects concurrently or do a less number of subjects each semester.


Students that successfully complete all assessment items within their certificate or diploma will receive an award stating so.
